ARPS Submission: Serengeti & Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park is often referred to as the “Serengeti of America” since it exhibits a rich diversity of carnivores and a spectacular group of herbivores all living in a superb landscape - just like it’s African counterpart.
This panel seeks to compare and contrast the fauna from the two locations in a food web hierarchy that starts at the top with the apex predators and works down the ecological pyramid to the small mammals and herbivores. The photos on the left are animals from the African Serengeti and those on the right from Yellowstone – each animal is contrasted and balanced with its ecological counterpart from the other continent. The similarities are interesting - both are dominated by cat and dog species and they feed on the various rodents, antelope and bovids. All photos were taken in the wild at each of the two locations
